Josie

What in the actual fuck? How did I allow those racists assholes to walk into my life and destroy it? I was two seconds away from putting a hole in Brody’s chest. That mother fucker better not let me catch him in the streets. Even though Jax defended Jen, I was still pissed off at him. It wasn’t rational. The man did what he was supposed to when it came to protecting my family, but I was still mad. There was no calming me down.

After making sure Jen was alright, my family went to bed. Jax was extremely quiet as we secured the inn and made our way over to the cottage to turn in for the night. He usually held my hand, but tonight there was a noticeable distance between us. He walked a couple of paces ahead of me and did not turn back to ensure I was okay. It bothered me that he was so silent. It made me wonder if he was blaming me for the debacle of the night.

Once we entered the cottage, he locked the doors, checked the windows, and set the alarm. I was too wired to sleep, but morning came fast on the ranch. Life didn’t stop because there were issues. The animals still needed to be fed and the customers needed to be serviced. Even though my family was taking up a part of the inn, there were still a couple of guests that expected breakfast.

“Jax, can we talk?”

“Not now, Josie. I’m not in a good head space. I just want to shower and go to bed.”

“And you think I am? We need to clear the air before going to bed.”

“I said not now!”

Oh, no this fucker did not just yell at me. The way he was looking at me reminded me of his stupid brother. What the hell was I getting myself into? Did all the men in his family hit women? Well, I had news for him. I would kill him cemetery dead before I let him lay one hand on me. I looked at him like he was crazy.

“Have you lost your mind? Don’t you ever in your life talk to me like that. I get that you’re upset, but don’t take it out on me.”

“You can’t possibly know how upset I am, Josie. If you did, you wouldn’t be starting a fight with me.”

“Is that supposed to be some sort of threat? Do you want to hit me like your brother did Jen?”

“What? Why would you say that? I am not my brother. I would rather die than lay a hand on you in violence. You don’t know me at all if you think that of me.”

“I don’t know what to think after tonight. Your family is crazy. It scared me.”

“So now you’re scared of me? You need to stop this right now. Go to bed, Josie, before you say something you can’t take back.”

“Fine, but I’ll be going to bed alone. Nope, scratch that. I’ll be sleeping with Hank tonight.
